Mohammed Kudus ends 2023/24 season as the best dribbler in Europe

Ghanaian and West Ham United standout Mohammed Kudus has emerged as the top dribbler in Europe's major seven leagues for the concluded 2023/24 season.

The 23-year-old achieved the highest number of successful take-ons, surpassing notable names such as Napoli's Khvicha Kvarastskhelia, Manchester City's Jeremy Doku, and Bayern Munich's Leroy Sane.

Data from Squawka, a respected analytics firm, reveals that Kudus executed an impressive total of 136 successful take-ons throughout the season. In football terms, a take-on signifies an attempt by a player to outmaneuver their opponent while in possession of the ball, thereby constituting a successful dribble.

While Kudus led the successful dribbles chart, Rafik Guitane from Estoril secured the second position with 108 successful take-ons. Following closely in third place is Savinho from Girona, with Juventus' Matais Soule and Kvarastskhelia occupying the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.

Other notable players in the top 10 include Osame Sahraoui from Heerenveen, Jeremy Doku, Leroy Sane, Johan Bakayoko, and Edon Zhegrova.

Since his transfer from Ajax Amsterdam to West Ham last year, Kudus has garnered recognition as one of the most captivating players in Europe. In his debut season with the Hammers, he contributed 14 goals and six assists across all competitions.

Notably, Kudus set a Premier League record for the highest number of successful dribbles in a single game during West Ham's clash with Chelsea in May, where despite his team's 5-1 loss, he completed 13 take-ons.

Looking ahead, Kudus will operate under a new manager at West Ham next season following the appointment of Julen Lopetegui as the club's new head coach, succeeding David Moyes, who departed at the end of the 2023/24 season.
