The 2024 Ballon d'Or: Man City midfielder beats Vinicius Junior to trophy.

The wait is finally over! The 2024 Ballon d'Or ceremony has taken place, and the winners have been announced. In a night filled with glamour and excitement, the football world gathered to honor the best of the best.

Rodri, the exceptional midfielder from Manchester City and Spain, took home the prestigious Men's Ballon d'Or award, marking a new era in football excellence.

Men's Ballon d'Or Winner: Rodri

Rodri's impressive performance led Manchester City to a record-breaking season, solidifying his position as one of the world's top players.

He received the award for his impressive performances, especially in the English Premier League and the 2024 UEFA Euros in Germany. He won both competitions as a key member of Manchester City and Spain.

Rodri played a total of 63 games and contributed to 26 goals. The 28-year-old scored 12 goals and provided 14 assists as a defensive midfielder. Rodri is now the first player to win the Ballon d'Or while playing for a Premier League club since Ronaldo did so at Manchester United in 2008

Women's Ballon d'Or Winner: Aitana Bonmatí

Aitana Bonmatí from Barcelona was crowned the Women's Ballon d'Or winner, reinforcing her status as a leading figure in women's football. Bonmati won the women's Ballon d'Or award for a second year running.

The 26-year-old playmaker had been the clear favourite for the award after starring in both La Liga F and the women's Champions League, in which Barcelona lifted the trophy for the third time in four years last season.

Other Notable Winners

Yashin Trophy: Emiliano Martínez (Aston Villa)

Emi Martinez retained the Yashin Trophy as the world's best goalkeeper in 2024.
The Aston Villa and Argentina goalkeeper has been honoured for the second consecutive year with the award presented to the best goalkeeper, which is selected by former Ballon d'Or winners.

Martinez played an integral role last season as his country won the Copa America. He kept a clean sheet in five of the six games, including the final, as they beat Colombia 1-0.

The forward made history as the youngest goalscorer in European Championship history when he scored for Spain in their 2-1 semi-final victory over France, just four days before turning 17, and he later helped his team win the trophy.

Men's Coach of the Year: Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid)

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti won the Johan Cruyff Trophy as men's coach of the year. He won three trophies including the champions league and La Liga.
