LeBron James has made NBA history as the first player to reach 50,000 career points across both regular season and playoff games.
This milestone came during the Los Angeles Lakers' dominant 136-115 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. James achieved the feat early in the first quarter with a precise 25-foot three-pointer, assisted by Luka Dončić.
By game’s end, James had scored 34 points, pushing his career total to 50,033—6,000 points ahead of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who holds second place on the all-time scoring list.
James' record-breaking total includes 41,871 points from the regular season (the most in NBA history) and 8,162 from the playoffs, where he is also the all-time leading scorer. Reflecting on the achievement, James said,
"It's a hell of a lot of points... I'm super blessed to have scored that many points in my career, competing in the best league in the world against the best players. It's truly special."
This milestone came in James' 22nd NBA season, tying him with Vince Carter for the most seasons played in league history. The Lakers' victory also saw Dončić shine with 30 points, 15 assists, and 8 rebounds, extending the Lakers' winning streak to seven games and securing their position in second place in the Western Conference.
Earlier, James was named the NBA's Western Conference Player of the Month for February, averaging 29.3 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 6.9 assists. At 40 years old, he became the oldest player to receive this honor, further solidifying his place among the greatest players in NBA history.
