Meta AI: The Ultimate Free Digital Assistant Powered by Llama 3 | Unveiled by Mark Zuckerberg.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg argues that the recently unveiled Meta AI stands out as the most advanced digital assistant available for free use. Meta introduced an upgraded AI assistant on Thursday, leveraging the latest versions of its open-source "Llama" large language model to power the technology.

According to Meta, the enhanced Meta AI, driven by advancements in the publicly accessible Llama 3, boasts improved intelligence and speed. Zuckerberg emphasized in an Instagram video that Meta AI now leads as the most intelligent AI assistant available for public use.

The open-source nature of Llama 3 allows external developers to customize it, enabling Meta to incorporate these enhancements into future iterations. Meta expressed enthusiasm for the potential of generative AI technology within its products and the wider ecosystem.

As part of this endeavor, Meta is implementing safeguards in the development and deployment of Llama models, especially as it plans to integrate generative AI features into Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger. Meta disclosed conducting thorough evaluations, both automated and manual, to assess model performance in areas such as weapons, cyberattacks, and child exploitation, taking additional measures to minimize unwanted responses in these domains.

Despite occasional instances of AI models, including Meta's, generating inaccurate or peculiar responses, users have welcomed the consistent updates and enhancements to Meta AI since its initial launch last year. Meta highlighted improvements in how its AI handles prompts related to political or social issues, aiming to provide comprehensive summaries rather than endorsing a specific viewpoint. Meta stated that Llama 3 has been fine-tuned to better discern appropriate prompts, distinguishing between innocuous inquiries and those crossing ethical boundaries.

To address concerns regarding AI-generated content, Meta plans to introduce visible markers on photorealistic images and will begin labeling video, audio, and images as "Made with AI" starting in May. This labeling aims to inform users when they are interacting with AI-generated content on Meta's platform.
