Stonebwoy beats King Promise to win 'Artist of the Year’ at 2024 TGMA

Ghanaian artist Stonebwoy emerged victorious at the recent Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), securing the coveted Artist of the Year title.

The Into The Future hitmaker bagged a total of seven awards, narrowly surpassing fellow musician King Promise, who secured six awards that evening.
This is Stonebwoy’s second TGMA Artiste of the Year award, his first being in 2015. He is the third artiste in history, besides rapper Sarkodie and the group VIP, to achieve this milestone.

Stonebwoy's achievement has been widely celebrated, marking a successful year in retrospect. His win was met with a mix of anticipation and admiration, as he appeared visibly moved when his name was announced, with many speculating that he was in prayer.

Surrounded by friends and family, including his wife Dr. Louisa Satekla, Stonebwoy expressed his gratitude on stage.

“I just want to say thanks to the Most High God. Thank you mama wherever you are, thank you for showering your blessings upon your son. I wrote a long speech but I am lost for words,” the musician said.

Accompanied by his wife, Dr. Louisa Satekla, his team, and fervent fans of the Bhim movement, Stonebwoy delivered a heartfelt acceptance speech, expressing gratitude to those who contributed to his success.

In addition to Artiste of the Year, Stonebwoy won five other awards: Best International Collaboration, Best Reggae/Dancehall Artist, Songwriter of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Dancehall Artiste.

Notably, Stonebwoy's triumph came amidst stiff competition from notable figures like rapper Black Sherif, singer Kuami Eugene, gospel artist Nacee, and rapper Sarkodie.

Prior to clinching the Artist of the Year award, Stonebwoy had already secured seven accolades, with King Promise as his closest rival with six awards, setting the stage for their head-to-head contention for the ultimate prize.

The announcement of Stonebwoy as the winner sparked an outpouring of congratulatory messages across social media platforms, underscoring the widespread recognition and support for his achievement.
