Don’t brag about your achievements on social media, says Fred Amugi

Veteran Ghanaian actor Fred Amugi has advised against the inclination to flaunt personal achievements on social media platforms.

He perceives such actions as indicative of excessive ambition and potentially exposes individuals to malicious influences.

In a recent discussion with Graphic Showbiz, Amugi stressed the importance of maintaining humility and expressing gratitude towards God for one's successes. He urged people to refrain from self-promotion on social media, emphasizing that true achievements are not solely one's own, but also the result of divine blessings and assistance from others.

Drawing from the wisdom of late director Samuel Ansomenu, Amugi shared a poignant quote from Beethoven, cautioning against self-aggrandizement upon achieving fame.

“He said, 'When you become a star, don't see yourself as one, and don't call yourself one. Let others call you a star, because the moment you start seeing yourself as one, that's the beginning of your downfall.'

He highlighted the dangers of losing sight of one's roots and the reasons behind their success, citing humility and gratitude as essential virtues to sustain success.

Expressing his desire to be remembered for leading a virtuous life and maximizing his acting talent, Amugi underscored the importance of humility and gratitude in attaining genuine happiness.

Additionally, he lamented the lack of collaboration and unity within the Ghanaian film industry, believing that such divisions hinder the production of globally competitive films.
