Otto Addo says Ghana's next game against Sudan is a must-win

Ghana's coach, Otto Addo, has emphasized that the Black Stars' upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifier against Sudan is a must-win game.

After failing to secure victories in their first two qualifying matches against Angola and Niger this month, Addo stressed the importance of the double-header against Sudan, coached by fellow Ghanaian James Kwasi Appiah, scheduled for October.

The Black Stars suffered a 0-1 home defeat to Angola last Thursday and drew 1-1 with Niger on Monday, leaving them winless in the qualifiers so far.

Addo acknowledged the pressure on the team to perform, stating, "It will be tough again, but we have no choice but to win".

"If we want a chance to improve in future games, we must secure victories now. The pressure is on, and we need to step up."

Despite the setbacks, Addo remains optimistic about Ghana's qualification chances, though he highlighted the need for defensive improvements and better utilization of scoring opportunities.

"We must learn from these games. The goals we've conceded were too easy, and we need to grow and improve. This is more than just a wake-up call."

Since his reappointment as head coach, Addo has led the Black Stars to just two victories in six matches.
