Okyeame Kwame backs King Paluta for Artiste of the Year

Ghanaian rapper and entrepreneur Okyeame Kwame has thrown his support behind King Paluta for the Artiste of the Year title.

In a Facebook post, he wrote: "Artiste of the Year. Signed, sealed, delivered. And he is wearing the Love Equation by OK. Medaase."

Although he did not specify any particular award scheme, his post has sparked discussions on who truly deserves the Artiste of the Year spot at the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

Many argue that King Paluta's prominence and dedication throughout 2024 set him apart from other artists. Their argument is backed by his release of three major hit songs— Aseda, Makoma, and Pop Champagne—alongside an album and multiple performances at high-profile concerts both locally and internationally.

On the other hand, some music fans are rallying behind King Promise, who was a strong contender for the award last year.

Meanwhile, Stonebwoy’s contributions in 2024 have also earned him recognition from key industry stakeholders. Many believe the Bhim Nation President is worthy of reclaiming the Artiste of the Year award.

According to the TGMA, the Artiste of the Year category is awarded to the performer deemed by the Academy, Board, and the public as having the highest audience appeal and popularity during the review period.

The recipient must have released a hit single, EP, or album and be among the most nominated artists of the year.

As of now, the TGMA organizers have yet to unveil the official nominations for this year’s awards.
