E.L lists his top five lyricists in Ghana, Lyrical Joe and others snubbed.

Award-winning Ghanaian rapper Elom Adablah, known as EL, has shared his top five lyricists in Ghana.

During an interview with DJ Slim, EL explained the distinction between a rapper and a lyricist. He stated that while rappers can produce and recite words to a beat, lyricists convey messages in an artistic and complex way, often requiring multiple listens to fully understand.

In the interview, EL emphasized that lyricism is a distinct art form compared to rapping. He noted that although anyone can rap by putting words together and making them rhyme, lyricism involves crafting songs that demand careful listening to grasp the deeper meanings conveyed.

EL listed his top five lyricists as Kojo Cue, King Tradey, Kev the Topic, M.anifest, Omar Sterling (formerly Paedae), and Obibini.

He clarified that this list is not ranked and includes current and relevant artists in the Ghanaian music industry. EL also mentioned that he could create a different list for top lyricists from past generations of rappers.

The rapper recently released a 13 track album called BAR 7 which featured musicians like, Samini, Lyrical Joe and Kev The Topic. This album is a continuation of his bar series with bar 6 released in 2021.

The list sparked discussions among fans, with some questioning the absence of artist like Sarkodie, Strongman, and Lyrical Joe.

While some agreed with EL's choices, others speculated that his selections were influenced by personal relationships or a preference for rappers who use English.
